This year, why not get the most bang out of your Halloween experience by joining the party at Midnight, Friday October 30th when the Carousel Luxury Cinemas plays Peter Jackson's hilarious and insane zombie masterpiece "Dead Alive." This is the bloodiest, gutsiest, and brainiest (literally) zombie film ever made, and we're painting the screen red in beautiful 35mm!

Not only that, but we're hosting the ultimate costume contest where the winner gets $100 -- IN CASH!

Tickets are at a low, low $5 each, and include one free beer. Additional beer will be sold at a bargain $1.50 each.

So join us at the Carousel Luxury Cinemas on 1305 Battleground Avenue in Greensboro, NC.

You can buy your tickets here, and if you have further questions, e-mail movieshowjoe@gmail.com.

Ashville Craft Shows [11 Feb 2009|01:20am]

At the moment I am looking into moving to Ashville, I was wondering how often there are non government (where I live there is one craft show, that is government run and costly) art/craft shows/events going on (IE: weekly, monthly, daily etc). I was also wondering if there are any good fabric shops, in or around Ashville? Thanks

Sorry if this doesn't belong here, but my friend Jenna (a.k.a. trashcan_chica) needs some help:

"does anyone know of any queer zines about living in rural areas or going to rural areas?

any help/pointing in the right direction would be amazing. i went through the whole Queer Zine Archive and couldn't really find anything.

thanks!
jenna b

p.s. i just got a wordpress site, sassyfrasscircus.com!"

Her (AIM) away message also says: "is looking for zines about/by members of radical queer ANTI-URBAN communities, so if you know of any..."

So please comment if you can help at all; thanks. :]

superman [07 Oct 2008|03:45pm]

paintyourface
Hello all, this is my first time posting but I was wondering if anyone has every made a superman quilt before? My boyfriend pretty much things hes superman (especially when he drinks lol) We just got our own place a few months back and while rearanging our room the other night we were talking about beds and such and me talking about wanting a huge round bed like shaq brought up superman.

anyways, I thot it would be great to get him a comforter or "quilt" with the superman "s" logo for christmas. It seems though, they dont make them plain like that, nor do they make them anywhere near the size i want (our bed is a king size) So i thought about making one, thought im not too expierenced with sewing i know how to.

has anyone every done something like this? even if on a smaller scale? Would anyone be interested in doing thing for me and ill pay for materials and labor? I know it would mean alot more probably if i hand made it, but i want it to look super nice.

any and all ideas/comments/suggestions would be greatly appriciated. Im glad I thot of this early instead of last min like i usually think of good ideas lol.

Can anybody help with crackle paint? [25 Aug 2008|01:09pm]

suhl
I'm trying to do a crackle texture on something I've made out of plaster. I put down an acrylic base coat, put down the crackle, put down the top coat, and at best I get one tiny crack here and there. Things I've tried:

- Been careful to only swipe the brush once for the top coat. Would a sponge work better?
- Tried thick and thin crackle coats.
- Instead of brushing the crackle coat on, I tried just pouring it on and letting it ooze around, which made a really thick layer of that.
- Tried doing a second layer of crackle/top. That didn't work at all.

Any suggestions?
